BBP celebrates local heroes on National First Responders Day

In honor of National First Responders Day, local first responders were invited to schools around the Bayport-Blue Point School District to take part in activities of celebration.

Members of the Suffolk County Police Department’s fifth precinct, the Bayport Fire Department, the Blue Point Fire Department, Community Ambulance and Patchogue Ambulance visited the district. Students honored and thanked the local heroes with handmade cards, recognizing their courageous, daily efforts in keeping the community safe. Students also thanked the district’s security personnel, displaying “thank you” banners at security desks around the district.

Additionally, Blue Point, Sylvan Avenue, and Academy Street elementary schools created a video, thanking the first responders for their service. As an extension to the day’s celebration, first responders are invited to join the varsity football team on the field during their Nov. 1 game against the Mt. Sinai High School Mustangs for the coin toss.
