The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office visited Sylvan Avenue, Blue Point and Academy Street elementary schools to teach students about bicycle safety.
They emphasized the importance of wearing a helmet correctly, wearing proper footwear and bright colors, using reflectors, and using a lock on a bicycle. Students learned the “ABC’s of biking”– having Air in the tires, working Brakes, and keeping the Chain clean. Lastly, students learned the correct hand signals for stopping and turning.
